Energy Measure

Improving the efficiency of ductwork is the single most important energy measure for most homes. Poor ductwork can waste hundreds of dollars each year and cause serious health and safety problems.

Homebuyers & Remodelers

Buying or remodeling a home? When you build efficiency and air quality into your plans, you can control energy costs and contaminant levels.

Buying a Home

Before you buy a home, ask to see utility bills from both summer and winter months, and check out the age and condition of the HVAC system. It’s also important to look for signs of water damage to the home, as well as cracks in walls and wood structures.

Building or Remodeling

If you’re building or renovating a home, consider investing in higher-efficiency heating and cooling equipment with attached filtration systems. In many cases, the cost can be recovered within a few years through money savings on monthly utility bills. Other smart upgrades include ENERGY STAR windows and quality insulation.
