Smart Refrigeration

Pipeline to savings

Being sure that pipe runs are the proper size can make the difference between wasting energy and pocketing higher profits.

Properly installing and maintaining equipment

Even equipment with the highest efficiency rating performs at its best only when it is kept clean and maintained regularly. These simple tips will help you get the most efficiency out of your refrigeration system.

  • Keep the defrost frequency and termination controls set for the unit’s minimum requirements. The fewer (and the shorter) defrosts required, the less energy your system will use.
  • Properly seal all penetrations into conditioned spaces. Replace worn seals on cooler and freezer doors.
  • Keep condenser or unit cooler coils clean by cleaning them several times a year.
  • Install unit coolers away from doors, per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Use the proper superheat setting as recommended by the manufacturer. Superheat describes the difference between the vapor point (the temperature refrigerant evaporates at with any given pressure) and the actual temperature of the refrigerant that exits the evaporator coil.
