Use R-410A units
Replacing older rooftop HVAC units and split systems with models that use the new R-410A refrigerant is a positive step for both business and the earth’s environment.
Smart for the environment
Unlike the R-22 refrigerant used by most of today’s systems, R-410A does not contain ozone-depleting compounds.
As of January 1, 2010 manufacturers will no longer produce rooftop units using R-22. The refrigerant will be produced until 2020 for servicing, but production caps are already reducing the amount available.
Smart for business
Companies that install R-410A units now can realize the full life of their equipment without concern over future availability of R-22 and its service components. Also:
- New R-410A units are more efficient and reliable than units produced a decade ago
- R-410A units have a thicker, more durable compressor shell to withstand higher pressure. The units vibrate less, so there's less strain on piping connections where most leaks occur.
- Strict assembly procedures and larger refrigerant filters/driers reduce chance of compressor failure. The high-quality synthetic lubricant used helps protect parts from damage.
